Giving Out Red Packets

The Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year is round the corner. To be exact, it will fall on 7th February and 8th February 2008, which is on Thursday and Friday respectively. This is a good news because Saturday and Sunday are no school days. That means to say, from Thursday to Sunday, No School! We, children always look forward to the arrival of this day of the year, the Chinese New Year. This is the time of the year where I can get Red Packets or "Ang Pow" from my aunts, uncles and also my parents.

According to customs, married couples have to give red packets to little children during Chinese New Year Days. Sometimes giving Red Packets are an headache to the adults. They want 'face' (pride) and yet they also want Money. If they give too much money to the kids (as in giving out Red Packets), they lose out when the other party give lesser amount of money to their own kids. Some married couples suffer even worser fate. After married for a couple of years, they have no children for years, despite how hard they try, or no matter what methods the old people teach them. Without Treatments for infertility, they are unable to conceive at all. Year after year, they have to give out Red Packets to children whenever children are present, who greeted them "Happy New Year". Some couples have fear so much so that whenever it comes to Chinese New Year, they would want to escape from this special day. They told relatives and friends, the couple want to go overseas holidays. They would rather spend their money on holidays than to 'waste money' giving out 'Charities Packet' to little children. This is so funny. The main importance of giving out Red Packet is just a tradition that is passed down to mean good wishes. The amount of money in it should not be a great problem. Infertility is no longer a major problem nowadays. As long as you have the will and determination, and of course Money, you can seek various treatments for infertility. Seek professional medical advice now if you have problems, so that next year, you can have babies to receive Red Packets!
